Promote Renewable Energy: Electricity can be produced from the renewable source of energy which is better for the environment. Renewable energies are also available in abundance.

 

Low Maintenance: These cars have fewer moving parts which reduces the maintenance cycle and cost compared to gasoline cars.

 

Less Noise Pollution: EV’s produces much less noise compared to any petrol or diesel cars due to less moving parts in the engine.

 

Disadvantages of EV

 

Lack of Infrastructure: Charging points are a must for EV’s to keep going. Currently the infrastructure is not ready and needs to be developed on a high scale.

 

Time for Charging: It takes time to charge. With a fast charger, minimum time required for 80% charge is around 1 hour which increases significantly if it is charged from a normal charger. This is a big drawback.

 

Variable Service Cost: As electric cars are a new concept therefore rate of services is not completely known to the users. Hence the chances of fraud are more here.

 

Lack of Awareness: If anything goes wrong with an EV, we need to call an expert as a local mechanic is not familiar with this new technology. As there are very few technicians who have the knowledge to work on EV’s this can create a big problem and inconvenience for the users.

 

No Clear Government Rules: The car manufacturers are in a dilemma due to unclear government rules and policies. It creates hinderance for the manufacturers to create an action plan and work on them. These things make us wonder the feasibility of EV in India.

This motor churns out a power of 134 bhp under normal conditions. The capacity of the battery is 39.2 kwh and it runs for 452 km on a full charge. Moreover, it takes 57 minutes with a fast charger and with a normal charger it needs around 6 hours. Its starting price is Rs.23.71 lakhs.

 

Mahindra E2O Plus

 

The battery capacity of this car is 10.08 kwh. It runs for 99.9 km on a full charge. It takes 75 minutes with a fast charger and 6 hours with a normal charger to charge 100 percent. Its starting price is Rs.7.57 lakhs.

 

Upcoming EV’s in India

 

There are many EV’s in line up and we will see some of the upcoming EV’s in India. Sooner or later these cars are going to replace our traditional and conventional cars. People always wait for a new car launch and India is ready for EV’s launch as well.

 

Tesla Model 3: Tesla is ready to launch its first car in India. It is expected to be manufactured here and will be priced around Rs.55 lakhs. The expected range is around 500 km with a top speed of about 162 kmph.
